  • What is a natural light portrait?

A natural light portrait is simply a picture of a person made using the light of the sun. It can be done inside using window light or outside.

  • Why do you use natural light?

I think the softness and simplicity of natural light makes a pleasing picture. It shows the person as they are, yet is flattering and elegant.

  • Where do you make your natural light portraits?

My studio has a ceiling 20 ft. high and two walls of frosted windows. The light changes from hour to hour, day to day, season to season. Adapting to these changes gives the portrait a unique look. I also enjoy shooting outside using environmental backgrounds. The decision to shoot inside or outside depends on the the look you desire (and, of course, the weather).
